Google’s New Favicon
Last June, Google changed its long lasting browser favicon. For those who are not familiar with this term, Favicon is a small image that appears in your navigation bar next to a URL. If your browser is favicon supported, it will associate that image with that URL and depending on your browser, that small image will show up in Bookmark Manager, Most Visited and etc. Favicon is short for “Favorites Icon”.

It takes some getting used to it. If I had to pick, I’d choose the first one. I really couldn’t get used to the new one when they changed it and I’m sure a lot of people had the same reaction as I did since the first one was used as their icon for long time. I really don’t know why they keep playing with it.
They announced that that they are going to keep this one for a while and they will be changing it later with a new one. Original design is André Resende’s work, an undergraduate student in Brazil. Original design is bit different. “g” is in the center. You can visit the announcement page at google’s official blog to read more on this new favicon.
