Feedburner Migration to Google

feedburner-logoAs many of you know Google bought FeedBurner back in 2007.  Google recently started moving feedburner to their system. Feedburner can now be accessed under “feedburner.google.com” address.

With this update, you can associate your FeedBurner account with one of your Google Account and no longer have to use your FeedBurner username and password. Less things to remember.

Feedburner will be completely moved to under Google’s network by the end of February. Google set up a support site for this transition. Please visit there to find answers for questions you might have.

Will I lose all my subscribers in this process?

You should not lose any readers of your feed during this transition process. All feeds.feedburner.com URLs will redirect your readers to feeds hosted by Google. Your readers will continue to receive your feeds. However, the reporting and analytics may take up to a week to adjust to internet traffic changes, so the number of subscribers you see in analytics reports may be lower for a short period of time.

In addition, the algorithms we use to calculate subscribers and reach at Google are more accurate and up to date than the algorithms previously used at FeedBurner.com, so your numbers will not be exactly the same before and after the transfer. We are constantly tuning our analytics to ensure they are accurate and correct for our publishers, but going forward we are only doing this within the Google environment.

Feedburner will look even better with better statistics.  It’s been only couple of days since I moved my account and my problem remains the same. I hope they fix it as soon possible.

Google is also changing the feed addresses but don’t worry your old Feedburner address will work as well.

If any of your readers use your old address, they will be directed to the new address. So don’t worry you won’t be losing any readers.

For those who don’t have a google account, Feedburner will no longer be available to them. They will have to register for a Google Account to continue their service with FeedBurner. They only have until the end of February 2009 to register.
