Recently, my school switched their emailing from their own to Google Hosted Email system. I have other Gmail accounts and I can access them through my iPhone without any problems.

Setting up your Google email account is an easy process, which is thoroughly explained at Gmail Support Site. There are two ways you can access your to Gmail account through your iPhone. One of them is IMAP and the other is using POP access.

The problem I had was a verification problem. Even though, I entered my information correct, it would not verify my account and let me access to my emails. What happens is that it will try to verify the account without SSL, and a minute later it would fail verifying.

From time to time, I’d have the same problem with my old browser, Firefox 2. What I’d do is to change my password through another browser then I’d be able to log in. So i tried the same thing. This actually worked. If you are having the same problem, you can try changing your password.

As Google points out, when you are entering your username, make sure to include your domain address after your username. So it would like this “username@yourdomain.com”.

You probably heard about Google Earth before, it was one of the products Google has received a lot of attention when it first came out.

They have just released a beta version which introduces some new features;

Time Travel: It lets you browse the old images a place you visit on Google Earth.

Google Earth Touring: This is another new feature I really like. With this new feature, you can record your trip on Google Earth and save it. Which makes it a lot easier to share with other people.

Google Ocean: Ocean view. It’s finally here. You can actually dive under ocean and see what’s going on. Watch the video for details.

Mars & Sky View: Nasa and Google finally working together. During the couple of years, Nasa’s Mars mission grabbed a lot of attention from people and they actually found some sort of ice. Anyways, with this new version of Google Beta, you can actually view planet Mars as you do with Earth.

You can also watch these video learn more about this new release.

I wasn’t even aware of this till today. The very new operating system Windows 7 is almost here. All you need to do to get a Windows 7 Beta DVD is to attend a MSDN Developer Conference. They haven’t posted when Windows 7 will be available. But if you attend one of those conferences, you will get a Windows 7 Beta DVD even it’s unavailable at that moment, they say that they will make sure that you get one when it’s available.

Please visit here and here for more information on this.

You can also find a list of MSDN Developer conferences, which includes the location and time they are going to happen. Links are available to register if you wish to attend.

I have no idea when Windows 7 will be available for public use but I hope they don’t make it too soon. I still use Windows XP on my laptop. It’s been just over two years since they released Vista.
